· Tardy: If a student is tardy to class, the school’s tardy policy will be upheld. If there is no school tardy policy, the tardy student will come in quietly and the teacher will record the tardy on the attendance sheet. Student’s will have ten tardies until corrective action will be taken.
· Absent: If a student is absent, they will be held accountable to get missing notes and/or homework assignments. The school policy for absent students will be upheld. Absent students will be directed to the class website to find lecture videos and homework files.

· Class Dismissal: The teacher will dismiss students after all students have cleaned up their work and are sitting in their seats.
· Assembly Schedule: If there is an assembly, class will proceed as normal on assembly schedule given by the school.
Out-of-Room Policies
· Students are required to be in class when the bell rings until the teacher dismisses them. Any time a student needs to leave the room between those times, the teacher must approve it.
· Students will only be allowed to leave the classroom for restroom, drink, etc during work time. It should not take more than five minutes. If the student is not back in five minutes, they will no longer be allowed to leave the classroom. Students will follow the student ledger rules. Any time a student leaves the classroom it will be deducted from their student ledger.
· Students are not allowed to leave the classroom during instructional time unless it is an emergency.
Instructional Procedures
· Warm-up: When the bell rings students should be at their desks working on the warm-up. It will consist of simple math facts to get students minds going before instruction begins. Students will have ten minutes after the bell rings to complete the warm-up. It will be graded by the teacher. Students who are late or absent will not receive points for the warm-up.
· Instruction: While the teacher is talking, the students are listening and attentive. Class time will be filled with instruction time each day. Students are to participate when called upon and be willing to answer questions.
· Preparedness: All students should come prepared. The teacher will remind the class what they will need for each class at the end of the day. If a student does not have a pencil, the teacher will have pencils available and they will be expected to return it after class. This will also be recorded on their student ledger. If a student needs to sharpen his/her pencil, they should do so when it is work time.
· Notes: Notes will be taken on important definitions, concepts, and formulas. They will be recorded on the note organizer. Students will keep notes to use on homework, group activities, and tests/quizzes if prohibited by the teacher. Students will receive points for completed notes in their own handwriting.
· Group Activities: Students will participate in class and group activities. Groups will be determined beforehand. One the day of the group activity, a group number will be on each student’s desk. The student must go to the assigned group. All students will participate in their groups and are expected to be respectful to everyone. Since our classroom learns together, each member of the group is responsible to help everyone in their group. Once the group activity is completed, students will clean up and return quietly to their seats.
· Review Days: Before each test there will be a review day to clear up any confusion and answer any questions students have. The review will be done either as an activity or as a review test, so that students know what will be required of them.
· Questions during lesson: If a student has a question about the lesson for the day they may raise their hand and wait for the teacher to call on them. If the student has a question that is unrelated to the lesson, the student will write the question on a sticky note and place on the white board, so they don’t interrupt the lesson. The teacher may deem a question as a sticky note question, even if the student feels it is related. Side board questions will be answered after the lesson, when the teacher feels it is appropriate.
· Homework: Homework will be given 4 out of the 5 days in a typical week. Students will be expected to finish the homework assignment before the next class period. Students have an opportunity to remove certain problems from their homework if they correctly answer the classroom exercise questions. The teacher will check and determine if a student has met the requirements or not. 2 points will be given to those that turn their homework in on time. If a student does not turn their homework in on time for whatever reason (absent, tardy, incomplete, etc.) they will not receive these 2 points. However they can complete two extra problems to receive those points back.
· Work Time: Each class will be given time to work on their assignments. This time should be used effectively. For students that finish early, there will be an activity available for them to participate in.
Materials and Equipment
· Calculators: All calculators will be kept in the classroom. A calculator may be checked out. The student must sign the check out list. If a calculator is broken by cause of a student, the student could be fined up to the cost of the calculator. All calculators must be in their assigned place before students are excused from the classroom.
· Students will respect all other materials/equipment in the classroom. They will only be allowed to use said materials/equipment if they have asked permission from the teacher.
· The teacher’s desk will be off limits to all students unless a student is personally asked by the teacher to do so.
Emergency
· All school emergency plans will be followed. Emergency exits will be shown on the school map posted by the door, along with all emergency procedures.
· Fire: Students will remain calm, quickly get up from their desk and form a single file line at the door. The teacher will escort the students outside after all students are in line. The teacher will take role once outside and report to designated official.
· Earthquake: Teacher and students will take cover under desks, tables, or sturdy doorways and will remain still and calm until given signal that it is ok to move. Once the signal is given, the teacher will again escort students outside. The teacher will then take role and report to designated official.
· Suspicious Behavior: Follow school procedure, remain calm, and stay out of sight. Stay in designed safe areas until further instruction to move.
Behavior Plan
· All students are required to act responsibly and follow the rule of respect to everyone and everything in the classroom. If corrective action is needed, it should follow in this order:
1. Teacher gives a warning. This warning can be as simple as reminding a student of the rule of respect or standing by the disruptive student.
2. If behavior continues, the teacher will instruct the student to stand by the door until the teacher can step out of the classroom to talk to the student. Once the teacher has given instruction to the other students, the teacher steps outside with the student. The teacher then calmly explains their concerns with the student’s behavior. The teacher then asks the student how he/she can change their behavior to be more respectful. Once an agreement has been made, the student is held accountable to implement it.
3. If a student continues to be disrespectful in class, a call or email is sent home to set up a time to meet with their parents or guardian. In the meeting, the teacher again explains their concern with the student’s behavior. Then the teacher will have the student explain to his/her parents the agreement that was made with the teacher and student. Then there will be an open discussion about what can be done further to help the student change his/her behavior to be more respectful in the classroom. Follow up meetings can be scheduled if necessary.
· Administration should be involved whenever the teacher feels it is necessary. The teacher will document all behavior issues.
